1. FingerTec H2b comes with a fingerprint scanner. Therefore, is it compulsory for us to enroll and save users' fingerprints into it?
No, it is entirely optional to enroll and save users' fingerprints into FingerTec H2b. However, we do recommend that you enroll permanent or frequent users of i-Neighbour and TimeTec Security app. This is to allow the Admin to better control their access via H2b. In cases whereby the user does not have a smartphone, the admin can also enroll the user’s fingerprint into H2b or even assign a card to the user.

FingerTec H2b is a Bluetooth enabled device that allows connection to mobile apps like i-Neighbour and TimeTec Security. The connection is secured by a Bluetooth pairing code, viewable and amended only by the owner can view and amend it. To unlock a door, a user of a mobile app will send a virtual key to H2b through a Bluetooth connection. Each user must register and be authorized by the owner to login to the mobile app. In conclusion, there are 3 layers of security in using FingerTec H2b, which are login credentials, Bluetooth pairing code and virtual key.
4. Why shall I use a mobile app instead of a physical key or a card to gain access?
The chance to lose physical keys or cards is higher than to lose a smartphone. Nowadays people carry their smartphone at all times, everywhere. Placing your access ‘key’ on your smartphone is providing you convenience as a user. And in cases where you lost your keys or cards, or you have a faulty lock, you need to change the locks or card reader the soonest possible to avoid unfortunate incidents or break ins.
5. I am a JMB from a community and I would like to install FingerTec H2b to restrict access in all facilities in the community i.e. gym room, convention hall and etc. How can I control this?
We recommend your community to upgrade to i-Neighbour, our cloud-based visitor and residential management system for high-rise residential and gated guarded residences. To restrict access, installation of FingerTec H2b to all your facilities can be an option. With i-Neighbour, the residents can use the app to book or to request for any facilities and the JMB members can review and authorize bookings or requests on their mobile app. Once the approval has been given, the resident will receive a temporary pass through the app as well. When the resident arrives at the facility that he/she books, he/she can use the mobile app to connect to the FingerTec H2b and unlock the doors. The temporary pass is time control basis for JMB to control the usage of the facilities.
6. If the resident did not pay the maintenance fee, how could I stop him from accessing all facilities?
All residents must register for an account under i-Neighbour before they can use the mobile app. In case the maintenance fee is lagged, the JMB or a system admin can block residents from accessing the mobile app at anytime.
7. If FingerTec H2b is not connected to the Internet, or to a network, how can I review the entry-exit records?
All entry-exit records will be uploaded from each individual user’s mobile app. All requests are sent by user’s mobile app and the mobile app will keep all records of entries and exits at all times.
8. I just want to install FingerTec H2b to secure my home, but my community does not subscribe to your i-Neighbour cloud system, how does it work?
You can install FingerTec H2b and install TimeTec Security App instead to secure your home. TimeTec Security App is a mobile app for individual home user, where the owner controls everything. The working mechanism is the same as stated in Question no 3 but all the setups and controls will have to be done by the owner from his mobile App. There is no need to use web portal to setup, as this is an independent system for home users.
9. Since the mobile app requires Bluetooth connection to be paired with H2b, do I need to help my family members to pair their smartphones one-by-one before they can use it?
No. The owner only requires to setup Bluetooth pairing code during the first time setup. The owner needs to create accounts for all of his family members by inserting their email addresses. The system will send emails to the family members to guide them to download the mobile app and create their login password. When the family members login to the mobile app, they have the Bluetooth pairing code immediately in the app.
